Tonight’s pick is The Company of Wolves.

Set in modern times, the film takes place within the dreams of Rosaleen. Rosaleen dreams that she lives in a fairytale forest with her parents and sister but one day her sister is killed by wolves. While her parents are mourning, Rosaleen goes to live with her grandmother, who knits a bright red shawl for her granddaughter to wear. The superstitious old woman gives Rosaleen an ominous warning, to beware men whose eyebrows meet. Throughout the movie short stories tie in with grandmothers warning (my favorite having to be the 3rd story that Rosaleen tells her mother).

A hazmat team makes a bid to clean a hospital of asbestos and in the process one man struggles with being a new father, one struggles with fear of the dark and another becomes obsessed with listening to sessions with a patient to find out what happened between her brother, her, her china doll and a knife on christmas.

Tonight’s pick is The Devil’s Backbone.
As in most of Guillermo del Toro’s movies threre’s a creepy kid and
best to watch in Spanish with subtitles.

The movie asks a great question of what is a ghost and gives several
great answers of what a ghost could be.

The movie also as most of his movie that I seem to enjoy involve a political
story and the horrors that follow with the children are stuck suffering from
either choices that had to be made to survive or choices that were just badly
chosen by their parents and how they either triumph in one way or another.

Tonight’s pick is the Wicker Man (1973). These days it’s not so much a horror movie as it is just creepy with the music choices but it’s done well. The remake takes the story and takes the creepy parts out and just makes it a whodunnit instead of a genuinely creepy movie like the original.

The Exorcist is the first movie pick I’ve made for October.
This is the first horror movie I ever watched and thus beginning my addiction to horror movies.

I was 12 years old and having a sleep over, my mom had rented The Exorcist for us and after popping popcorn and settling in to watch it everything was perfectly fine
UNTIL the first time Regan growled, I jumped about 2 feet in the air but continued watching…. THEN…. we get to the point where she crabwalks down the stairs…….. I jump up and start screaming turn on the lights, turn on the lights and then go back to watching the movie.

43 days until Halloween!!!! Last year I did a random 31 days of Halloween were I half assed did a movie review of what I watched that night since I found a bunch of movies last year really really cheap. I had a friend ask me a few weeks ago if I was going to do it again this year so I suppose I will.
